What is Dextrose ?

Unlike many other sugars, dextrose has uses that go far beyond food—it’s also used medically to raise blood sugar rapidly and by bodybuilders or athletes to replenish lost glycogen, increase weight, or gain instantaneous energy.

Is Dextrose the same as Suger ? Dextrose is not the same as table sugar (sucrose), which is made up of glucose and fructose. Rather, dextrose is a simple sugar chemically identical to glucose, the sugar found in our bloodstream. Some people use the terms “glucose” and “dextrose” interchangeably, as dextrose (sometimes called D-glucose) can be used by the human body and raise blood sugar just as glucose does. The body breaks down dextrose and glucose in the same way.

Is Dextrose Natural or Artificial ? Dextrose is a naturally occurring, fast-digesting sugar typically derived from corn but can also be extracted from rice or wheat.
